Chocolate peanut butter cup protein shake

If you’re following me over on Instagram, then you might have noticed that I’ve been whipping up a fair few chocolate protein recipes! Well.. that’s because I have recently acquired a new protein powder and I just can’t seem to get enough of it. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m incredibly fussy when it comes to choosing protein powders, so it’s always a bit of a miracle when I find one that I absolutely love! This is another plant based protein powder; as you know I only really use vegan protein powders, as I just tend to prefer the texture and flavour that they have. This particular one is a pea protein and it from a brand called NutriStrength, who make a wide variety of lifestyle and sports nutrition products. Their products are currently sold at Wholefoods in the UK and will soon be sold in Planet Organic too (this may have already happened by the time this post goes up). I’ve seen them around whilst browsing the isles of Wholefoods and am so pleased that I finally got the chance to give some of the products a go!

The two products that I’ve been absolutely loving are their Roasted Cocoa Pea Protein and Pink Salt and Coconut Electrolyte mix. Like I’ve mentioned a couple of times before, when looking for a new protein powder, I like to try and opt for one that doesn’t contain lots of unnatural/ chemical ingredients. The ingredients list on this one if fairly minimal and it’s sweetened with stevia instead of any refined sugars. They also make the pea protein in a vanilla flavour, as well as the roasted cocoa, so I can’t wait to give that one a try as well! I’m not particularly adventurous when it comes to protein flavours and tend to typically stick to either chocolate or vanilla, as they’re usually my favourite ones. I’ve also been adding in this pink salt and coconut electrolyte mix to smoothies and porridge for an extra boost of minerals. It has dehydrated coconut water, which is a good source of electrolytes, so I like to use this after I’ve been sweating and training in the gym.

This shake is great if you’re looking for a little post-workout protein treat, or for when you fancy something sweet. The banana and protein powder, provide a really sweet and delicious flavour, so it actually tastes like a chocolate milk shake! I’ve then added in some peanut butter (of course!)for some added healthy fats and a hint of creamy, nutty flavour.. plus chocolate and peanut butter are just the best combination!
