London Lunching Guide- Ahi Poke

So, first in this new series that I’m starting on the blog: The London Lunching Guide is a pretty exciting one for me, as it was something that I’d never tried before! I’ve you’re a keen Instagrammer and love scrolling through pictures of delicious looking bowls of food, then it’s likely that you may have come across one of the latest foodie trends (and an absolutely delicious one at that) Poke bowls! I was lucky enough to recently be invited to try out a new Poke spot in London called Ahi Poke; which is located in Fitzrovia, not far from Tottenham Court Road. It’s a Hawaiian cuisine where you can choose from a delicious selection of Poke bowls or build your own by choosing a base, fish, sauces and then various other toppings. All of the food is really vibrant, flavourful and fresh and I love the fact that you can mix & match to create your own dish and try lots of different things!

When building your bowl, the first port of call is to select your base. I went for kale, but you can also choose from brown rice, quinoa and noodles. You can then select from a choice of fish and veggies which consist of salmon, ahi tuna, prawns and mushrooms. I went for a combination of salmon and prawns, as these are my favourite, but to be honest, everything looked delicious! It reminds me a little of sashimi – a raw fish dish that I love to get when I eat at sushi restaurants. Next up, you select your toppings; I went for some avocado, crispy onions, cashews, carrots, ginger and kimchi cucumber. They also offer a choice of delicious sauces, just to make the whole thing taste EVEN more incredible. The sweet chilli sauce is DELICIOUS fyi! My boyfriend opted for a similar dish, but had the noodles and went for the spicy mayo dressing and he absolutely loved it also! He’s typically not really a fan of cold dishes or salads, but couldn’t get enough of this- so that’s really saying something!

The cafe itself is really light and airy and has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. You can enjoy your lunch inside, outside in the sunshine (when we have some) or take it to go. It has a really bright and clean feel, which I love and is the ideal place to enjoy a leisurely lunch with friends or grab a quick bite on your lunch break. For me, this is the perfect lunch option as it’s really light, fresh and packed full of vibrant veggies and protein. If you’re in the area, I would definitely recommend giving this place a try!
